What is DHI hair transplant?
DHI, or Direct Hair Implantation, places grafts with an implanter pen after follicular units are extracted from the donor area. It can help the team control depth, direction and angle during implantation.
DHI is not automatically better for every patient. The best technique depends on donor quality, recipient area, density goal, hair characteristics and the surgical plan.
When DHI may be considered
- When dense implantation is planned in selected areas.
- When direction control is especially important for hairline design.
- When the donor and recipient areas allow a realistic graft plan.
When another method may be better
Large coverage needs, limited donor capacity or certain scalp conditions may make FUE planning or a combined approach more appropriate.
